Alison Strobel

Alison Strobel is an American author of contemporary Christian women's fiction. She is a graduate of Wheaton College and the daughter of journalist and apologist Lee Strobel, author of "The Case for Christ." She lives in Colorado with her husband, pastor and author Daniel Hill, and has spent her career writing for the inspirational-fiction market published by WaterBrook, Zondervan and other Christian imprints. Her first novel "Worlds Collide" was published by WaterBrook Press in 2005 and introduced the themes she has returned to across her catalog: faith tested by personal crisis, romantic relationships complicated by past trauma, and the slow recovery of identity after a turning point. She followed it with "Violette Between" (2006), "The Weight of Shadows" (2009) and "Composing Amelia" (2010), a novel about a young pastor's wife navigating clinical depression that was widely discussed in Christian fiction circles for treating mental illness frankly within an inspirational frame. "The Heart of Memory," published by Zondervan in 2011, is among her best-known novels. It follows Savannah Trover, a celebrated Christian speaker and author who survives a sudden medical crisis only to find that the faith she has built her career around no longer feels true to her. The novel uses her recovery and the strain it places on her marriage and ministry to ask what is left of a public faith when its private foundation gives way. Strobel has also written for younger readers, including the early-grade chapter book series "Trin in the Tropics" and contemporary picture books co-written with her father. Her adult fiction sits in the same shelf as Karen Kingsbury, Francine Rivers and Lisa Wingate — character-driven, emotionally direct, and unafraid of difficult subject matter within a faith framework.
